We are excited to announce that CamCat author, Ash Bishop’s debut novel, Intergalactic Exterminators, Inc has just won the 2023 Audies Award® in the Science Fiction category. The Audio Publishers Association (APA) announced the 2023 Audies Awards® at the gala hosted by actress Michelle Buteau at Chelsea Piers’ Pier Sixty in New York on the evening of March 28, 2023. The APA’s award competition is the premier awards program for recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment. The audiobook for Intergalactic Exterminators, Inc was expertly read by Scott Brick and Suzanne Elise Freeman, and can be found wherever audiobooks are sold.

“This is so exciting,” says author Ash Bishop. “I feel so honored and many thanks to Scott Brick, Suzanne Elise Freeman, and to CamCat for putting together such a great team.” When Bishop was first writing the book, he felt Intergalactic Exterminators, Inc came at just the right time for readers looking for a fun escape. “At a time when the culture is embroiled in change and conflict, Intergalactic Exterminators, Inc reminds readers that the real common enemy has always been intergalactic space bugs,” says Bishop.

Intergalactic Exterminators, Inc also gives a fun nod to adventure films and novels, where Russ, narrated by Scott Brick, inherits his grandfather’s bookstore only to find an ancient artifact hidden amongst the store’s inventory that attracts an alien predator. Romantic interest Nina, narrated by Suzanne Elise Freeman, joins Russ on his adventures and keeps him from turning into alien goo.

Finding work is easy. Staying alive is a little bit harder.

When Russ Wesley finds an unusual artifact in his grandfather’s collection of rare antiquities, the last thing he expects is for it to draw the attention of a ferocious alien from a distant planet. Equally surprising is the adventurous team of intergalactic exterminators dispatched to deal with the alien threat. They’re a little wild, and a little reckless. Worse yet, they’re so impressed with Russ’s marksmanship that they insist he join their squad . . . whether he wants to or not.

“Scott Brick and Suzanne Elise Freeman bring grounded ease and a naturalistic feel to this comic-adventure mash-up of two small-town 20-somethings who will do just about anything to find steady jobs, including entering a competition to become intergalactic pest exterminators.”

AudioFile Magazine

“This book is so much fun it ought to be illegal in all known galaxies. Ash Bishop has written a wildly imagined, deeply felt, swashbuckling page turner. I loved it.”

—Jesse Kellerman, New York Times bestselling author of The Burning

“VERDICT Bishop’s sci-fi debut is recommended for readers who think Larry Correia’s “Monster Hunter International” series should go intergalactic, those who enjoy stories featuring the people who get the dirty jobs done, and especially anyone who wishes that Martha Wells’s Murderbot would become a superhero.”

Library Journal

“Bishop’s feel-good sci-fi debut kicks off when drifter Russ Wesley discovers a mysterious stone among his recently deceased grandfather’s collection of oddities . . . imbuing this romp with solid worldbuilding, a broad sense of adventure, and a sensitive emotional core. With gruesome alien battles, layered conflict, and a sprinkling of humor, this is sure to find an audience.”
